Bunga-Bunga
Bunga-Bunga is a phrase employed by Silvio Berlusconi to describe the sex-parties held at his houses; it is comparable to orgy where the dinner guests enjoy sex following a good meal. The phrase achieved both national and international notoriety following the Rubygate scandal with Karima el-Mahroug, an underage dancer.
Etymology
Some reports suggest that Berlusconi imported the phrase from Libyan leader, Muammar Qaddafi, however it is not recognised as part of any of the languages spoken in that region.
Other reports suggest the origin comes from an English joke which (in various forms) goes thus:
- Three men are captured by a primitive tribe. The chief offers them a choice between death or bunga-bunga. The first man chooses bunga-bunga whereupon he is sexually assaulted by the biggest, dirtiest tribesman there before being released. The second man captive is very troubled by this but decides freedom is worth it so opts for bunga-bunga. The third man decides there is no way he can handle it so he opts for death. Whereupon the chief cries out, "let it be so; you shall have death... by bunga-bunga!"
In 2004 an internet definition reports bunga-bunga as being related to violent gang rape ref whilst other sources cite it to mean anal rape in prison.
In the past, "bunga-bunga" achieved notoriety as the phrase used in the Dreadnought hoax perpetrated on the British Royal Navy by Virginia Woolf and friends in 1910. ref
Video
The video shows a satirical song performed on Rai 3 by Zappaesque band, Elio e le storie tese referencing strong Berlusconi supporters, Lele Mora (talent scout) and Emilio Fede (newsreader) and questioning Berlusconi's relationship with Libyan leader, Qaddafi.
